Property and Support Team 2010 Annual Report

First, I would like to thank many people for their time, their help and their opinions. I would like to thank God for continued guidance in giving direction in how the church should look going forward. I would like to thank Bobbi for her “subtle suggestions” on when things should be done. Thank you, Bob for your hard work keeping the church looking beautiful each and every service, regardless of what time the work needs to be done. Thanks to Ben for keeping the trimming of the shrubs and mowing the grass when needed. Special thanks to my team - Dick Engels, Mike Aupperle, Greg Ludwig, and Bob DeLander. Many, many thanks to Rev. Kathie for her guidance, direction and vision for the church.

The Property and Support Team had a very busy year during 2010, hopefully you have noticed some of the improvements. If not, here is (in no particular order) what was accomplished during 2010. The old wooden doors on the east side of the church were replaced with glass doors, giving the office entrance more of a professional look. By replacing the doors, the intercom and security system for that entrance was re-connected. This is to provide security for the office personnel when they are the only persons in the church. Landscaping was finished during the year. There was a flower box built around the marquee on the southeast corner of the church. The flower bed wall on the east side of the church was re-built using stone matching the church. The wall on the west side of the church was taken down and replaced with large stone blocks and river rock replaced the weeds between the wall and the church. Dick Engels fixed and/or replaced the side lights on the east side entrance and all lights going down the ramp on the east side of the church. On 2/26/10, the church receptionist, Marj Bogenrief, resigned. Melissa Scace was hired to replace Marj a short time later and is doing an awesome job. Early in the year, a new copy machine and risograph machine were purchased. The old copier was placed in the office lobby for all church members to use. The old risograph was taken in as a trade-in to reduce the price of the new one. On 6/12/10, a “church clean-up day” was held and was doing great until the skies opened up and the rain came down. Thanks to all of you who helped with the weeding and trimming done that day. All of the stairs had concrete patching done on them, as needed, and they look much, much better than before. The team purchased a bigger Shop-Vac and a couple of large fans to tackle the problem of the wet basement. A railing was made and placed on the steps in the sanctuary for the purpose of aiding persons climbing up the stairs. The major improvement of the year, in my opinion, was the installation of the audio/visual system in the sanctuary. The system is still being “tweaked” and is only going to get better and better for your worship experience.

The team has met and we are already working on projects that we hope to accomplish during 2011. Keep your eyes open because changes are always happening. As always, the team members welcome the congregation’s suggestions for improving the look and function of United Presbyterian Church. Again, thank you to everyone who contributed to the Property and Support Team’s success – God Bless.
